TAPPI is pleased to announce it will bestow the title of Fellow on 11 members in an upcoming ceremony.
Fellow is an honorary title bestowed upon a small percentage of TAPPI’s membership and is given to individuals who have made extraordinary technical or service contributions to the industry and/or the Association.
The following individuals have been named 2026 TAPPI Fellows:
- John M. Buzzell III, Retired, formerly Director of Technical Services for Containerboard Sales, Georgia Pacific
- Douglas W. Coffin, Ph.D., Professor, Miami University, 2026 TAPPI Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal Award Winner
- Bill Edwards, Senior Vice President, Pulp & Paper Operations, Domtar
- Kelly Frey, Retired, formerly Technical Service Engineer at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company
- Gary Furman, Ph.D., Senior Corporate Scientist, Nalco Water, An Ecolab Company
- ZhiHua Jiang, Ph.D., Director, Alabama Center for Paper and Bioresource Engineering, Auburn University
- Greg Jones, Executive Vice President, SUN Automation Group
- Alexander Koukoulas, Ph.D., Independent Advisor, A2K Consultants, LLC
- Larry Montague, Retired, formerly President and CEO, TAPPI
- Leslie Petrie, Retired, formerly VP of Environmental, Health & Safety, International Paper
- Pat Stiede, Speaker Relations Manager, TAPPI
In addition to those who are being recognized for meritorious service, the title Fellow may also be conferred upon TAPPI Board chairs, vice chairs, and directors at the end of their terms of office, and upon Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal Awardees and Herman L. Joachim Distinguished Service recipients.
This prestigious group will be honored Sunday April 26, 2026 at the Fellows Luncheon during TAPPICon, April 26-29, 2026 in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
