Earthnutz, a new mission-led UK snack brand founded by Abby Singh, has officially launched its Peanut Protein Crisp range. With the aim to become the nation’s healthiest crisp, Earthnutz delivers high protein, high fibre and clean label ingredients for consumers looking to feel better through food.
Abby, the founder of Earthnutz, has selected Sonoco’s fully recyclable 95% paper-based can solution to support both product performance and sustainability objectives. Sonoco’s rigid paper can contains up to 64% postconsumer recycled content, provides excellent barrier protection for crispness retention, and can be recycled through household paper waste streams across the UK.
The Earthnutz concept began after Abby’s young son suffered a severe allergic reaction to peanuts, prompting her to enrol him in a clinically-led programme that effectively reversed his peanut allergy. Instead of avoiding peanuts, the treatment introduced controlled micro-doses that increased over time until he could consume whole peanuts safely. The only challenge was that he didn’t want to eat them. What started as a personal mission to make peanuts more fun, familiar and tasty for her son, quickly evolved into a product development journey. Abby recognised a gap in the market for a nutrient-dense savoury snack that offered the enjoyment and familiarity of crisps, but without the nutritional compromises typically associated with snacking.
Abby worked with food specialists to develop a peanut crisp packed with protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals. The Peanut Protein Crisp range features three flavours: Wasabi (16g protein per pack), Salt & Pepper (15g protein per pack) and Sweet Chilli (14g protein per pack). Each serving contains 5g fibre or 16% of your recommended daily allowance, roughly equivalent to 2 slices of wholemeal bread. Earthnutz has also introduced a Virgin Peanut Oil, making the production process zero-waste from end to end.
“We wanted to take something as familiar and satisfying as crisps and turn it into something you’d boast about eating” said Abby Singh, Founder of Earthnutz. “Having turned down hundreds of flexible plastic and mixed material options, we finally discovered Sonoco’s paper can. It’s allowed us to achieve both our health and sustainability goals without compromise.”
Sonoco’s recyclable paper can enables Earthnutz to align with evolving sustainability preferences within both consumer and retail channels. The format offers strong branding visibility, protects product quality throughout distribution, and reduces reliance on hard-to-recycle flexible plastics commonly used in the snacking category.
“We are proud to support brands that are rethinking nutrition, transparency, and sustainability,” said Siobhan Blinkhorn, Sonoco UK Sales Manager. “Earthnutz brings a compelling proposition to a growing functional snacking market, and we’re pleased our packaging technology plays a role in Earthnutz’s mission.”
