A capacity building programme on new packaging concepts was organised for artisans under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme.
The workshop featuring industry experts was hosted by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), with the support of the Ministry of MSME, and in collaboration with the Department of Industries / PIPDIC, Government of Puducherry, a press note said.
The technical sessions during the event held at the the Art and Craft Village, Murungapakkam, were led by industry experts and master artisans.
During a session, Martin, proprietor, Honeycore Product Private Limited., Chennai, addressed participants on modern packaging concepts, materials and design considerations relevant to artisan products. Harsh Vardhan, True Cartons, Puducherry, provided insights into carton packaging, cost-effective solutions and branding through packaging.
R. Mohandass, national awardee and master craftsman, who runs ‘Kolu Bommai’ shared tips on traditional product packaging, preservation techniques and enhancing visual appeal while retaining cultural identity.
According to the press note, the interactive sessions enabled artisans to understand packaging innovations, market expectations and the importance of presentation in domestic and export markets. Participants who actively engaged with the resource persons also gained practical insights into improving product visibility and sales.
N. Dinesh Babu, Project Manager, EDII, Samit Kumar, faculty, and T. Vignesh, Senior Project Officer, EDII, were among those who addressed the participants.
