Packsize, the market leader in sustainable, right-sized, on-demand packaging, today announced the launch of the X5 Nozomi, developed in collaboration with EFI, a global leader in digital imaging innovation.
The X5 Nozomi is the first solution in the market to integrate high-quality, full-color on-box, on-demand print with fully automated, right-sized box production in a single machine that can be run by one operator. The technology builds on the proven speed, cost savings, and sustainability of the Packsize X5 by adding direct-to-box printing capabilities from EFI. This enables brands to produce custom-printed, right-sized boxes on demand at speeds as fast as six seconds per box, while also unlocking exciting new avenues for marketing, cross-selling, and customer engagement.
“The X5 Nozomi represents the next phase in packaging innovation,” said David Lockwood, CEO of Packsize. “By integrating right-size packaging, and high-quality single pass print in a single workflow, we open the opportunities to unlock the value of traditional packaging to create powerful brand engagement. This technology will enable ecommerce and retail companies to more effectively meet operational goals, advance sustainability commitments, and elevate their customer experience.”
The X5 Nozomi expands Packsize’s proven solutions to create a new customer touchpoint with the box. It enables users to print vibrant imagery, brand elements and personalized messaging directly on every right-sized box. The result makes the box a powerful marketing and customer experience tool that can drive cross-selling through on-box advertising, creating lucrative revenue opportunities with third-party partners, while elevating packaging from plain monochrome to high-impact color. This technology enables targeted communication at the moment of delivery or unboxing allowing companies to engage customers in a more meaningful and memorable way.
Additionally, the X5 Nozomi goes beyond marketing and customer engagement to deliver significant operational advantages: printing shipping details, product information, and regional regulatory labels directly on the box, eliminating the need for separate labeling that typically slows down fulfillment. This streamlines SKU management, reduces manual handling, and enables greater automation of repackaging workflows for retailers, ecommerce businesses, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands.
“Digital print transforms a box into a powerful, often-overlooked opportunity for brands – particularly consumer packaged goods – and retailers, as well as 3PL companies,” said Frank Pennisi, CEO of EFI. “When you combine Packsize’s technology with EFI’s ability to deliver vivid, full-color custom graphics at speed, you create a differentiated solution that not only simplifies operations through in-line production, but also elevates the customer experience with memorable, personalized packaging.”
