Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) has been contracted by the Schubert Group, an international specialist in packaging solutions based in Crailsheim, Germany, to take over service operations for its customer installations in Brazil. Schubert manufactures packaging systems for filling operations, primarily in the food and beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical sectors. As part of the agreement, HEIDELBERG is taking over production support and targeted performance optimization activities for the Schubert Group’s machines and systems in Brazil. These activities include functional tests, independent analysis, remedying faults, technical advice, and training. The agreement also covers inspection, maintenance, and repair work, and the assembly, disassembly, and relocation of complete systems. Under this arrangement, Schubert benefits from the global HEIDELBERG service network and its expertise, which is both highly specific and useful for a huge range of applications, especially in the fields of mechatronics, electronics, and plant engineering.
“Extending the use of our professional and efficient service network to international partners such as the Schubert Group is part of the Heidelberg growth strategy,” says Jürgen Otto, CEO of HEIDELBERG. “By expanding the range of services we offer to cover the entire packaging value chain, we are implementing our strategy of becoming a systems integrator, leveraging synergies in this growth segment.”
“As a medium-sized family company, we want to have a presence in growth markets such as Brazil. That makes the collaboration with HEIDELBERG and its technical expertise an ideal step,” explains Marcel Kiessling, Managing Director of Gerhard Schubert GmbH.
“Two machine builders working in tandem can provide a service that perfectly combines innovation and reliability,” says Uwe Galm, Director Customer Services at Gerhard Schubert GmbH.
Portfolio with recurring sales to be expanded to cover more companies, sectors, and regions
HEIDELBERG views the process of taking over service tasks and customer services for other companies as a first step. After all, the company also boasts extensive know-how in parts sales and spare parts logistics, is capable of delivering almost anywhere in the world within 24 hours, and moreover has the capacity for this thanks to its global logistics centers. HEIDELBERG therefore plans to extend its offerings to other sectors that fit well with the company on a strategic level. This will enable it to further strengthen its market position through synergies and recurring sales. Potential customers include ambitious international mechanical engineering firms in growth sectors that do not yet have their own branches or service organizations in every market or region.
As Dr. David Schmedding, Chief Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG says: “With its comprehensive expertise, high availability, and global presence, the HEIDELBERG service network sets standards – both within our industry and beyond. When it comes to machine builders, whose customers place particular value on technical expertise, reliability, rapid response times, and maximum customer centricity, HEIDELBERG is the perfect partner for making profitable growth possible in every region worldwide.”
