Ahmedabad-based Astron Packaging has announced the commissioning of its new corrugation facility in Pune, Maharashtra. Spread across a 200,000 sq. ft. site, this state-of-the-art unit represents the company’s most ambitious corrugation expansion to date, built to serve India’s rapidly growing fresh produce export market.
The Pune facility adds to Astron’s existing operations in Ahmedabad and Dubai, while strategically positioning the company closer to its largest customer base.
“Nearly 80% of our fresh produce packaging demand comes from Maharashtra,” said Niraj Darji, President of Astron Packaging. “By setting up in Pune, we are able to drastically cut transportation and logistics costs while providing faster, more responsive delivery and service to our customers.”
Equipped with a high-speed corrugation line from leading European and Chinese manufacturers, the plant is designed for world-class efficiency and flexibility. At full capacity, it will process 10,000 tonnes of board per month, making it the largest single-location corrugation plant in India.
Currently operating one corrugation and one converting line in two shifts, Astron plans to commission additional lines by October 2025, further boosting output.
The company has also invested in cassette-type corrugation technology and a dedicated quality lab to meet the stringent requirements of export-grade packaging. This will enable Astron to manufacture specially fluted mono cartons for European markets, designed to withstand humidity and cold-chain logistics.
With the new facility, Astron Packaging is targeting 30% revenue growth in FY 2025–26, with the Pune plant expected to play a pivotal role in driving this expansion.
