VPK Group, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions, has appointed Patrick Leclercq as the new divisional CEO of its Corrugated Board division.
Leclercq, who joined the company in 2017, brings a wealth of experience from leadership roles across Belgium, the Nordics, and France.
In a statement, Leclercq emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration and the value of VPK’s workforce.
“People are 80% alike across borders, but the difference lies in the 20% nuance. These insights help me today in my role across more than ten countries,” he said.
His leadership approach focuses on leveraging these nuances to foster unity and efficiency within the division, which operates across 70 facilities in 21 countries and employs around 7,000 staff members.
His extensive experience and strategic vision are expected to propel the Corrugated Board division forward, ensuring VPK remains a frontrunner in the global packaging industry.
Meanwhile, VPK Group is actively expanding its footprint and enhancing its sustainability efforts.
In April 2025, the company acquired Open Imballaggi, a corrugated cardboard packaging producer near Bergamo, Italy.
The expansion strengthened VPK’s presence in Southern Europe and aligned with its goal of broadening its global reach while maintaining a vertically integrated approach.
Furthering its commitment to sustainable production, VPK launched a state-of-the-art BOBST 4-colour casemaker in Oudegem, Belgium, in May 2025.
According to company officials, this new facility replaces outdated Langston machines, enabling more eco-friendly manufacturing processes.
This highlighted VPK’s focus on delivering 100% recyclable and biodegradable packaging solutions using recycled paper as its primary raw material.
A recent report highlights VPK’s broader achievements in 2024, noting a turnover of US$2.1 billion and significant investments totaling US$185.8 million.
The company also integrated the Iberian Arteche Group into its Corex division and expanded fanfold packaging across Europe, reinforcing its position as a leader in circular packaging solutions.
“Our integrated model and focus on sustainability drive our growth,” CEO Pierre Macharis said.
