Maritime Paper Dartmouth installs the Mitsubishi EVOL 4-Colour Flexo Folder Gluer. This installation project was the largest capital investment ($18.8 million) in the history of Maritime Paper.
The installation was made possible through significant support from the Maritime Paper Products GP’s board of directors and parent company Scotia Investments’ board of directors as well as with a $3.7 million business development incentive from Invest Nova Scotia and a $3 million repayable contribution from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
The new printing press replaces aging equipment with a single advanced-technology corrugated converting machine for the various corrugated packaging products manufactured by the company at its Dartmouth facility.
“For nearly a century, Maritime Paper has been a true Atlantic Canadian success story, thriving by investing in both its business and our communities. Our government is committed to supporting companies that choose Canada—those that grow, innovate, and create good jobs for Canadians today and for generations to come,” said Darren Fisher, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence and Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour.
A celebration ceremony was held Feb. 26 to mark the commissioning of the newest equipment. The event was attended by Fisher, John A. MacDonald, Ministerial Assistant for Colton LeBlanc, Minister of Growth and Development, Scotia Investment’s board of directors and family shareholders, leaders from Scotia’s family of companies, Maritime Paper staff, customers, partners, suppliers, and supporters.
