A leading North East carton packaging provider has strengthened its employee development and sustainability strategy through a new collaboration with NC Group Ltd., a training specialist based in Aycliffe Business Park.
Following NC Group’s recent accolade as ‘Small Business of the Year 2024’ at the Aycliffe Business Park Awards, Harrison Packaging’s managing director Craig Turnbull reached out to develop a partnership focused on enhancing workforce skills and wellbeing.
The two companies have since created a comprehensive training plan to close skills gaps at Harrison Packaging, incorporating both funded and commercial programmes to support staff growth.
Craig said: “We are delighted to work with NC Group on this initiative to provide our employees with valuable opportunities for growth and development.
“As an employer of over 100 people across the region, we are committed to people sustainability.
“Research supports that focusing on people improves wellbeing, job satisfaction, employee engagement, recruitment, and retention, ultimately leading to better business performance. And add to that, it is positive news for the regional economy, two local businesses working together.”
The strategy includes leadership development through NC Group’s leadership bootcamp and specialised training for facilities technician Matthew Turnbull, who is pursuing a Level 3 Engineering Technologies Diploma, with plans to advance to an HNC Apprenticeship within a year.
Lee Childs, CEO of NC Group, added: “We are delighted to have been approached by Harrison Packaging, one of the UK’s leading carton packaging manufacturers, to review, develop and implement a tailored training programme.
“Our efforts are already contributing to positive outcomes for its workforce – helping close skills gaps and elevate capabilities.”
