Packrite, LLC, headquartered in High Point, North Carolina, has unveiled a significant enhancement to its Bobst Mastercut 2.1 diecutter line. The upgrade incorporates the integration of a high-speed Bobst Breaker Flat Track nicked bundle breaker and a Bobst Pallitizer 2.1, marking a pivotal advancement in automation, productivity, and efficiency within the Mastercut line.
Michael Drummond, CEO of Packrite, lauds the transformative impact of the latest technology, stating, “It’s a huge time saver. It has completely eliminated hand breaking on that Mastercut line. We can make multiple breaks across a bundle as well as multiple breaks in the through direction in a single pass. It’s all automatic, and there’s no need for a second pass.”
The Breaker Flat Track seamlessly interfaces with the Palletizer 2.1, a fully automated palletizer equipped with offsetting alignment and turntables. These features ensure the precise alignment and orientation of individual batches for optimal placement within the stack. Drummond highlights the practical benefits, stating, “These offsetting tables also allow our operators and quality team access to the full die-cut batch without climbing over the equipment. It makes it easier, faster, and safer to pull samples for quality control.”
The Palletizer 2.1 boasts additional functionalities, including automatic tie-sheet, dunnage-sheet, and pallet insertion, along with automatic pallet pre-load placement. Drummond explains the simplicity of operation: “We just select a load format and size from a pre-programmed recipe. Then it’s hands-off, the machine does the rest.”
The Palletizer seamlessly integrates with a newly installed state-of-the-art takeaway conveyor line. Drummond elaborates on the features of the takeaway line, which incorporates automatic pallet centering and a multi-head Signode GCU SmartFlex Unitizer with a sword insertion feature. The sword insertion capability enables strapping a load to a pallet in two directions for enhanced load stability.
Positioned downstream from the unitizer is a cutting-edge Octopus high-speed, large-format automatic stretch wrapper. This system grants Packrite versatility in strapping and wrapping, offering options for just strapping, just wrapping, or a pass-through based on customer requirements. Notably, the system achieves a remarkable throughput, creating over 200 units per hour.
