Heidelberg CX series combines best of both world – the mechanical virtues of successful CD and size and improved coating of the XL series.
White Print O Pack has been catering to the pharmaceutical industry of the Baddi region of Himachal Pradesh with its three KBA machines – two of them bought second hand and a brand new. Recently, the firm has added to its printing capabilities with the addition of a Heidelberg CX 104 6-colour machine with coater. This conventional machine has been installed at the Baddi premises of the company.
White Print O Pack entered into the printing business in 2004 and has been catering to the ever increasing demand of pharmaceutical companies in the region. Owned by four partners – a father and sons team of Dewans and Mr. Amit Gera who is entrusted with the active management and production. The Dewans are based out of Delhi and look after the marketing and financial part of the printing firm and locally based Amit manages the day to day affairs including production.
Mr.Rahul Dewan, the CFO of the company is the youngest in the team. He is very enthusiastic about the recent Heidelberg. “We always wanted to have a Heidelberg on our shopfloor as it is the best equipment for our segment,” states Rahul. “Heidelberg gave us a deal we could not refuse for the technology they offered. We found it the best deal among the many other options we considered including Komori, manroland and of course KBA. But, ultimately Heidelberg prevailed considering our ‘wish’ to own a brand new Heidelberg in addition to a good deal vis-a-vis the technology that Heidelberg offered,” he adds.
White Print O Pack opted for the CX series of Heidelberg. Harish Gogia, Cluster Sales Head – North & East, Heidelberg India speaking about their decision to opt it over the CD series, explains, “CX is a mixed version of the CD and XL series. The CX series takes the mechanical virtues of CD, which were made specifically for the packaging segment, with an additional increase of substrate size from 102 to 104 cms and incorporation of improved coating technology used in the XL series.” Presently, they are able to successfully run substrates from 180 – 400 gsm boards and have all post press and prepress facilities in house. “The Bobst die cutter and the Kodak process free CtP have our things rolling in the right direction and the addition of Heidelberg CX 104 will only help us further streamline the processes,” shares Amit. Besides, the foiling, embossing and UV embellishments, done in-house, make White Print O Pack a self sufficient unit in addition to being a one-stop-shop for their customers.
“Heidelberg not only gives us superior technology, but its presence in India with its widespread service team brings about minimum machine stoppage time, whether it’s due to breakdown or for spares,” praises Gaurav Dewan, the Chief Marketing Officer of White Print O Pack. “We have always felt that after sales service is as important as any other aspect for a printer to make a choice on the machines to be installed on their shopfloor,” he emphasizes.
“We consider the printing industry to be a service industry and we make it a point to explore the pain points of our customers and provide them with solutions which are affordable and environmentally sustainable and that has been our policy and seems to have stood us and our customers well over the years,” added Gaurav, the CMO.
White Print O Pack did a turnover of over 36cr last financial year and expect to do about 50cr the coming term. “In the next financial year we plan to touch about 70-75 cr turnover,” reveals Rahul, the CFO
“Trust, transparency and timely delivery is the mantra that White Print O Pack has been following and this has stood us in good stead,” states Gaurav. It is always a challenge for printers catering to the pharma industry to get reasonable pricing for their product. For this challenge, Amit Gera has one solution – Heidelberg! “Pricing is another reason for us to go in for a new Heidelberg despite the huge capital investment. Today every rupee saved is rupee earned. To provide products at competitive price, we need to increase the efficiency, productivity and at the same time reduce wastage. Heidelberg is an answer to all these aspects,” avers Amit.
The partners of White Print O Pack also have another unit in Siliguri catering to the pharma industry there with offset as well as gravure infrastructure. The company is also planning to put up a gravure unit in Baddi shortly. An office in Gurgaon helps coordinate the activities of the group from a centralised location. Though 99% of their customer base is in the pharma industry, they have recently started exploring possibilities of servicing the e-commerce, food and cosmetic markets too from their Gurgaon office.
