In celebration of National Mentor Month, we are proud to highlight our Rusken Career Development Program (RCDP). Beginning in 2018, we have successfully transitioned two classes from trainees to employees across our organization and are currently in the midst of our third class.
Created for recent college graduates who are eager to learn our business and grow in their professional development, becoming an integral part of Rusken’s growth plans. Throughout the RCDP program, the trainees will rotate through each Rusken Department, learning tips and tricks of the trade from our seasoned corrugated industry mentors. Following the two-year program, each RCDP trainee will be placed in an expanded role that is an ideal fit as they continue to grow within our organization and may even be asked to help with coordinating and mentoring the next RCDP class.
Current RCDP trainee, Dawson Shugarts, said the following about his experience with his mentors that previously successfully completed the trainee program:
“Having access to the mentors in the RCDP has been an amazing resource. Since day one, they have been there to help us and guide us down the right path. Since they have been through the program previously, it has been easy to connect with them through some of our shared work experiences. It has been awesome to observe these guys in their roles after the program. Seeing the success that they are having at Rusken gives me motivation to do my best every day. All the former trainees are rockstars in their current roles and have made me feel like an integral part of this company. My experience, so far, as a trainee has been incredible due to the resources and advice given by our mentors.”
Transitioning from the 2019 management trainee class, Zach Ivey, now a Rusken sales representative, attested the following to his mentors during his time in the program:
“At Rusken, the RCDP have the support from numerous mentors that want to see them succeed. For me, this helped fuel my work ethic and drive every day.”
