Reuseabox, a Lincolnshire based B Corp certified company that makes it easier for people to reuse cardboard boxes, has welcomed fellow B Corp Faith In Nature to its growing community of reuse partners.
Faith In Nature, the Manchester-based, family-run company behind a range of vegan, cruelty-free personal care products, will now send its excess cardboard packaging to Reuseabox, delaying its journey into the waste stream rather than sending it straight for recycling. Based on current volume of boxes collected each month, the partnership is forecast to deliver a significant annual environmental impact.
Over the course of a year, the partnership is forecast to deliver the following estimated impact:
- 13,200 cardboard boxes reused
- 39 trees saved
- 12 tonnes of CO2e emissions avoided
- 186,700 kWh of energy saved
- 2.27 million litres of water saved
To put that in context, the energy saved is enough to power around 75 average UK homes for a year, while the water saved could fill approximately 28,300 baths. The emissions avoided are equivalent to taking an average petrol car off the road for around 45,700 miles, roughly the same as driving around the Earth nearly twice.
These figures are estimates based on Reuseabox’s independently verified and first of its kind environmental calculator tool that compares cardboard reuse to recycling.
Faith In Nature already works hard to minimise packaging waste across its manufacturing process, reusing pallet layer pads and boxes already in its system wherever possible. But even with these efforts, excess cardboard is inevitable, and that’s where Reuseabox comes in, keeping that cardboard in circulation for longer.
Laura Ford, Sustainability Director, Faith In Nature:
“Reuse is a simple but powerful way to rethink how we use resources. Working with Reuseabox gives us an opportunity to keep packaging in use for longer, giving boxes a second life and avoiding unnecessary waste – a practical step towards the circular economy. For us, it’s about finding the best solution for now, while continuing to work towards a more sustainable future.”
Founded in 1974, Faith In Nature was the first company in the world to give Nature a seat, voice and vote on its Board of Directors. Its products are made with at least 99% natural origin ingredients and 100% natural origin aromas, and the business is a certified B Corp and a living wage employer.
Jack Good, Founder of Reuseabox said:
“Faith In Nature already does so much to keep waste out of their process before it even reaches us, which makes this partnership even more rewarding. Every box we take on delays the point at which it enters the waste stream, saving the resources that would otherwise be spent making something new in the meantime. When a business with Faith In Nature’s values chooses reuse over recycling, it shows how far the circular economy has come from being a nice idea to being a genuine business decision.“
