Seda International Packaging Group is among the key players featured in the exhibition “Design di Filiera. La Filiera del Packaging”, taking place from March 3 to 22, 2026 at the ADI Design Museum – Compasso d’Oro in Milan.
Promoted by ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale – and UCIMA, the exhibition highlights the central role of design throughout the entire packaging value chain — from machinery engineering to materials, from packaging solutions to recycling systems — showcasing Italian industrial excellence and its ability to combine innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
Seda presents “Eco Fit – The New Generation Lid”, an innovative fully paper lid designed to replace traditional plastic lids for both hot and cold beverages. The product represents the most advanced evolution of design applied to food service packaging, where functionality, user experience, and environmental sustainability converge in a single solution.
Ecodesign and Integrated Sustainability
Made from certified renewable fibers, Eco Fit has been developed according to rigorous ecodesign principles and validated through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analyses demonstrating superior environmental performance compared to plastic and molded fiber alternatives.
Fully recyclable within the paper stream and also available in a compostable version, Eco Fit enables a drastic reduction in plastic usage — saving up to 400 tons of plastic for every 100 million lids produced — making a tangible contribution to the transition toward circular economy models.
Eco Fit is also part of an integrated system with Seda’s patented Double Wall cups — another key innovation from the Group — confirming the company’s systemic approach to product design.
Thanks to its sustainability performance and the new consumption concept introduced through its innovative design, the Eco Fit system received the WorldStar Award 2023 Winner, the most prestigious international recognition in the beverage category.
Design as an Industrial Lever
Founded in 1964 and now a global leader in paper-based food packaging, Seda operates 13 manufacturing plants across Europe and North America.
Throughout its history, the Group has leveraged industrial design as a strategic growth driver, anticipating market trends and environmental regulations with solutions that have shaped the industry — from the iconic Calippo container to the Double Wall cup, and now the Eco Fit technology showcased at the “Design di Filiera” exhibition at the ADI Design Museum.
