VPK Randers proudly celebrated four years without workplace accidents, marking a significant milestone that reflects the company’s deeply rooted and proactive safety culture.
For VPK Randers, safety is not a standalone initiative—it is embedded in everyday operations and decision-making. From structured S-Q-D-C-P board meetings and daily safety nudges to comprehensive safety walks and transparent reporting systems, the organization consistently prioritizes the well-being of its workforce.
A strong emphasis is placed on learning from near-miss incidents through GEMBA walks and open dialogue, ensuring continuous improvement and preventive action. Safety awareness begins from day one, as every new employee is introduced to the company’s safety handbook. Additionally, an annual Safety Day brings the entire site together for hands-on training in emergency response, first aid, and fire safety preparedness.
Through initiatives such as AMO (Work Environment Organization), APV (mandatory workplace assessments), and dedicated wellbeing ambassadors, employees are actively involved in shaping both physical safety standards and mental well-being. At VPK Randers, creating a workplace where employees feel secure, supported, and empowered to speak up is just as important as marked walkways and personal protective equipment.
Else Marie Thomsen, Safety Representative & Wellbeing Ambassador, shared:
“For me, it makes a real difference that safety isn’t just something we talk about — we act on it. When a colleague pauses and says ‘Let’s make sure we do this the right way’, you feel the commitment. It shows that we don’t settle for good intentions; we take responsibility and follow through to keep each other safe.”
Rene Søborg, Production Manager, emphasized the importance of shared ownership:
“Four years without accidents is the result of a strong culture where employees take ownership. I am proud.”
Elise Mørk Røed, QHSE Manager, highlighted the structured approach behind the success:
“Safety should feel natural. Structure, learning and ownership make that possible.”
