{"id":9756,"date":"2023-04-24T09:43:55","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T09:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cpmirror.com\/?p=9756"},"modified":"2023-04-24T09:43:56","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T09:43:56","slug":"rewarding-excellence-in-packaging-design-the-countdown-to-enter-the-european-carton-excellence-award-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cpmirror.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/24\/rewarding-excellence-in-packaging-design-the-countdown-to-enter-the-european-carton-excellence-award-begins\/","title":{"rendered":"Rewarding excellence in packaging design: The countdown to enter the European Carton Excellence Award begins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With Pro Carton\u2019s pan-European Awards set to return this September to mark its 27th year, the countdown to enter the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.procarton.com\/awards\/european-carton-excellence-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Carton Excellence Award (ECEA)<\/a>, the most prestigious and respected award in the industry, has begun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is just one month left to enter the ECEA, hosted by Pro Carton and the European Carton Makers Association (ECMA), which acknowledges, rewards, and challenges partners across the supply chain to showcase their most innovative cartonboard packaging designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interested parties have until 26 May 2023 \u2013 WITH NO DEADLINE EXTENSION \u2013 to submit their award-worthy designs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entries can be made in four categories:<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>General Packaging \u2013 Virgin Fibre<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General Packaging \u2013 Recycled Fibre<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food &amp; Drink Packaging \u2013 Virgin Fibre<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food &amp; Drink Packaging \u2013 Recycled Fibre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All award submissions will automatically be entered into the Carton of the Year Award, while entrants can also choose to enter the Sustainability and\/or Innovation Award. The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite pack in the Public Award, while Platinum and Gold Award winners will also be chosen in each category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winners are chosen by a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.procarton.com\/awards\/european-carton-excellence-award\/2023-2\/judges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prestigious panel of packaging experts<\/a>&nbsp;representing different stakeholders from the cartonboard value chain. This includes Saatkar Gidda, consultant and chair of the jury; Susanna Lippitsch, leading packaging designer; and Sanjeev Das, Global Packaging Director for Unilever.&nbsp; The panel will assess each entry against rigorous criteria, including graphic and structural design, production techniques, cost-efficiency, ecology, innovation, and convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, the coveted\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.procarton.com\/awards\/european-carton-excellence-award\/european-carton-excellence-award-2022-home-page\/european-carton-excellence-award-2022-winners\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carton of the Year<\/a>\u00a0accolade went to Rutgers Printing &amp; Packaging Solutions (Carton Converter) and Stora Enso (Cartonboard Manufacturer) for its snack tomatoes pack. It was described as a \u201cmasterpiece of elementary and sustainable design, with the perfect balance between maximising the visibility of the product while maintaining rigidity.\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>he folding carton design was made of food-safe, renewable virgin fibre, with a stand-out locking mechanism which wowed the judges. Furthermore, for 100,000 boxes, it is estimated that the snack tomatoes pack can help brand owners save more than 6,700 kilos of plastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous Carton of the Year winners include Durero Packaging (Structural Designer) and Holmen Iggesund (Cartonboard Manufacturer) who took the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.procarton.com\/the_awards\/general-snack-tomatoes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2021 title for Bodegas Balsamic<\/a>, while the 2020 Award was presented to Van Genechten Packaging (Cartonboard Converter) and Stora Enso (Cartonboard Manufacturer) for its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.procarton.com\/awards\/european-carton-excellence-award\/european-carton-excellence-award-2020\/european-carton-excellence-award-2020-winners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roku Gin gift box<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Winfried Muehling, Pro Carton\u2019s Marketing and Communication Director<\/strong>, commented: \u201cEach year, the standard of entries for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.procarton.com\/awards\/european-carton-excellence-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Carton Excellence Awards<\/a>&nbsp;is exceptionally high. The awards recognise the beauty of cartonboard \u2013 not only in its visual form, which is highly aesthetic \u2013 but the functional benefits it offers. It is fast becoming the preferred packaging material for brands looking for a renewable, recyclable, and sustainable alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince the award launched back in 1997, it has grown into the industry\u2019s must-attend ceremony and the perfect place to meet and greet fellow packaging professionals, giving attendees the chance to network and celebrate with the industry. We can\u2019t wait to see this year\u2019s entries and celebrate our next class of winners this September in Seville, Spain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final deadline for entries is&nbsp;<strong>26 May 2023. No deadline extension will be offered<\/strong>.
