Members of the Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry (TAPPI) recently elected Bill Edwards, Domtar\u2019s senior vice president of pulp and paper operations, to serve on the TAPPI board of directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TAPPI is the leading association for the worldwide pulp, paper, packaging, tissue and converting industries. Through information exchange and events, it has provided management training and networking to the pulp and paper industry\u2019s leaders for more than 100 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great honor to be recognized by my peers, and I look forward to working with the board to advocate for our industry,\u201d Edwards says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edwards leads Domtar\u2019s pulp and paper manufacturing, converting\/coating operations, and optimization efforts, and he brings more than 30 years of experience in the industry to his role on the TAPPI board of directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bill and his team also oversee the company\u2019s safety, quality, continuous improvement, engineering and innovation teams. Previously, he served as Dotmar\u2019s vice president of paper manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edwards began his career in the paper industry in 1990 at the then-Weyerhaeuser mill in Plymouth, North Carolina, and he has held various roles of increasing responsibility since. These have included project engineering, linerboard machine superintendent, linerboard\/fluff pulp\/recycled operations superintendent, fine paper operations manager, paper operations manager and general manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He served as the general manager for Domtar\u2019s Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, South Carolina, for eight years before joining the pulp and paper leadership team in October 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bill works to support the paper industry through his long-standing involvement with TAPPI and the Pulp & Paper Safety Association. He was inducted into the Couch Pit Pulp & Paper Society in 2015. He also received the 2012 TAPPI PIMA Ray H. Cross Award for his contribution to community service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
