And it\u2019s all part of our commitment to contribute to only using sustainable&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mars.com\/sustainability-plan\/healthy-planet\/sustainable-packaging\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">circular<\/a>&nbsp;packaging&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s why we\u2019re excited about a recent collaboration with packaging supplier Berry Global to launch new club jars \u2013 made from recycled content \u2013 for M&amp;M\u2019S\u00ae, STARBURST\u00ae and SKITTLES\u00ae. The new jars contain 15% recycled plastic, replacing about 300 tons of virgin plastic per year.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The easy-grip square jars are produced at Berry\u2019s manufacturing facility, using a single-pellet, food-grade resin to assure a clean, consistent packaging material sourced from mechanical recycling. In addition to including recycled materials, the jar itself is also widely recyclable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Available in three sizes, the new jars offer the same look and feel as previous jars \u2013 and the two larger sizes are 10 grams lighter per jar, saving 374 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO<sub>2<\/sub>) every year. Those CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;savings are equivalent to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>42,084 gallons of gasoline consumed&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>45,494,350 smartphones charged&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>72.8 homes\u2019 electricity use for one year&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we\u2019re investing hundreds of millions of dollars to reimagine and redesign our packaging.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve set an aggressive, science-based strategy to innovate our packaging,\u201d says Justin Comes, Vice President of R&amp;D, Mars Wrigley North America. \u201cThis move to 15% PCR for these large-format jars is a significant step towards a more sustainable future.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the world we want tomorrow, packaging material never becomes waste.
