This achievement marks another important milestone in the company\u2019s sustainability journey and underlines its long-term commitment to decarbonization and responsible business practices as part of its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.siegwerk.com\/en\/glossary\/term\/horizonnow.html\">HorizonNOW 2030<sup><small><\/small><\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;sustainability agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since initiating its transition to renewable electricity in 2021, Siegwerk has continuously expanded its green electricity footprint worldwide. In 2023, the company achieved 100 percent global renewable electricity coverage for the first time and has maintained this coverage ever since, while continuing to strengthen its approach through a variety of measures. These include on-site solar installations, for example in India, Argentina, Mexico, and Thailand; the purchase of unbundled energy attribute certificates; the switch to green electricity tariffs; and the selection of renewable energy providers. All of these efforts have collectively strengthened the company\u2019s overall operational sustainability and reduced its carbon footprint across continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOperating on 100 percent renewable electricity worldwide is an important milestone for Siegwerk and a strong signal of our dedication to climate action. Having ensured this coverage for the third year in a row is a strong sign of continued commitment\u2014not just a one-time action,\u201d said Alina Marm, Head of Global Sustainability at Siegwerk. \u201cAt the same time, we know that credible climate progress requires continuous investment, long-term thinking, and concrete actions throughout the entire value chain. This achievement is therefore not the end of a journey, but another step forward.\u201d With the launch of its updated sustainability agenda,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.siegwerk.com\/en\/glossary\/term\/horizonnow.html\">HorizonNOW 2030<sup><small><\/small><\/sup><\/a>, at the beginning of 2026, Siegwerk further strengthened its sustainability ambitions with a renewed focus on sustainable procurement, sustainable operations, and sustainable products. The updated agenda defines measurable sustainability targets to be achieved by 2030 and reinforces the company\u2019s commitment to being a leading enabler of sustainable packaging solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of our key ambitions is to reduce our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.siegwerk.com\/en\/glossary\/term\/scope-1.html\">Scope 1<sup><small><\/small><\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;and 2 emissions by 60 percent by 2030 compared with 2020, while ensuring 100 percent renewable electricity coverage every year,\u201d added Marm. \u201cTo achieve this, we are continuing to build on our long-standing efforts beyond renewable electricity coverage by further driving energy efficiency, operational improvements, and behavioral change initiatives to reduce overall energy consumption and CO\u2082 emissions across the organization.\u201d To support these ambitions, Siegwerk has established a dedicated \u201cgreen fund\u201d to accelerate investments in sustainability and emission-reduction projects worldwide. The additional budget is intended to support carbon-reduction investments, including projects with longer payback periods. This financial commitment reinforces the company\u2019s determination to further accelerate the transition to renewable energy and improve energy efficiency across all its global operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Going forward, Siegwerk\u2019s renewable electricity strategy will increasingly focus on expanding on-site and off-site renewable generation where technically and economically feasible, reducing reliance on short-term market mechanisms over time, and strengthening regional strategies that reflect different grid conditions, regulatory frameworks, and market maturity levels around the world. The company\u2019s renewable electricity strategy forms an important pillar of its broader carbon-reduction roadmap and reflects Siegwerk\u2019s belief that long-term climate progress requires both ambition and discipline.
