{"id":22013,"date":"2026-04-22T07:48:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T07:48:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cpmirror.com\/?p=22013"},"modified":"2026-04-22T07:50:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T07:50:23","slug":"fpa-urges-foodservice-packaging-businesses-to-contact-their-mps-about-pepr-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cpmirror.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/22\/fpa-urges-foodservice-packaging-businesses-to-contact-their-mps-about-pepr-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"FPA urges foodservice packaging businesses to contact their MPs about pEPR issues"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The&nbsp;Foodservice Packaging Association&nbsp;(FPA) is calling on sector businesses to contact their local MPs to highlight concerns about how the UK\u2019s Packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) scheme is operating in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The call to action was issued in the association\u2019s latest Friday FPA Digest, alongside a suite of resources designed to support engagement with policymakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These materials, including a template letter to MPs, a briefing document and guidance on how to engage, are now available via the homepage of the FPA website <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FPA says the move reflects a growing need to ensure MPs understand the&nbsp;real-world impact of EPR on businesses in their constituencies \u2013 particularly across manufacturing, distribution and wholesale, foodservice supply chains, and logistics and warehousing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association has raised concerns that, where there is limited visibility over the full population of obligated producers, compliant businesses may face increasing cost pressure compared to competitors, including in areas where supply chains are harder to verify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent media coverage has also highlighted the issue, pointing to questions around system visibility and market dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;\u201cWe support the objectives of Packaging EPR, but it is essential that the system operates fairly in practice\u201d,&nbsp;<\/em>says Mike Revell, executive chair of the FPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe are encouraging members to engage with their MPs because this is not just a policy issue.
