Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, is partnering with Ekornes, the Nordic region\u2019s largest furniture producer, to introduce an innovative paper-based packaging solution for wrapping high-end mattresses, replacing the previous plastic solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ekornes is using Mondi\u2019s re\/cycle CompressWrap to securely wrap its mattresses and protect them during transport. The mattress packaging consists of two components: compress wrapping and secondary packaging. For the first step, Mondi\u2019s FunctionalBarrier Paper 95\/5 ensures durability and vacuum sealing during the compression process thanks to its thin coating layer. In the second step, the compressed and rolled mattress is secured with an outer wrapper made from Mondi\u2019s FunctionalBarrier Paper Reduce, which offers excellent sealing properties to tightly secure the high-end mattress during shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new solution replaces Ekornes\u2019 previous plastic packaging, offering an alternative that is made from fibre as renewable resource, and answering the growing consumer demand for more sustainable packaging. As part of Mondi\u2019s re\/cycle portfolio, the company\u2019s FunctionalBarrier Paper range is designed for recycling according to the 4evergreen \u2018Design for Circularity Guidelines\u2019. Additionally, the new CompressWrap solution runs seamlessly on Ekornes\u2019 existing machinery, making the switch from plastic to paper packaging both convenient and cost-efficient for the customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
