James Cropper, a global market leader in advanced materials and paper products, will highlight the unlimited potential offered by paper cups when it attends the Independent Paper Show in London later this June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\u00a0legendary paper product innovator, which celebrates its 180th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary this year, will supply its recycled paper cups from its stand. The cups, printed in James Cropper\u2019s trademark electric green in collaboration with Huhtam\u00e4ki, are produced using James Cropper\u2019s game-changing CupCycling\u00a9\u00a0<\/sup>technology, a world-first system that upcycles up to 700 million used coffee cups per year into premium paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These cups will be accompanied by a spectrum of coloured swatches of Vanguard paper, a premium uncoated paper made using 40% upcycled material sourced through CupCycling\u00a9<\/sup>. Each sheet of Vanguard contains roughly half a cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo transition to a circular economy, we need to maximise collaboration at every step of the material loop,\u201d explains Gareth Fisher<\/strong>, Sales Director at James Cropper. \u201cCup Cycling demonstrates what is possible when consumers, brands, and manufacturers work together with purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEvents like the Independent Paper Show are so important because they embody that collaborative spirit, bringing together experts and innovators from several industries to inspire a brighter future. It\u2019s the perfect place to throw down the gauntlet by showing what can be achieved when you improve access to recycled material.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n James Cropper will demonstrate a novel use of material recovered from paper cups, bringing the recycling journey to life by using it to print a new children\u2019s book titled\u00a0Little Coffee Cup\u2019s Big Surprise. The book\u2019s author, Hayley Slack, will attend the event to discuss her creative journey throughout the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The materials have also been used as part of a collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University, which saw design students develop innovative lighting concepts using advanced paper materials and Moulded Fibre solutions as part of a contest. The winner, Jonathan Bairnes, will also be present on the stand to discuss his innovation, the Eclipsa table lamp. Inspired by East Asian culture, the lamp uses two different paper materials to offer hard and soft lighting in an elegant, cylindrical, lantern-like design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s a privilege for us to be joined by Jonathan and Hayley,\u201d added Gareth. \u201cThis show is all about collaboration, so we\u2019re looking forward to inspiring attendees and being inspired by industry colleagues in return.
