All solutions support manufacturers’ current regulatory requirements, including product printing and identification using global GS1 standards, data capture and verification, and traceability solutions for visibility along the entire value chain.

“We are always looking to expand and improve our solutions offering to ensure we can continue to support our customers. This includes developing and improving solutions to offer high-speed, 2D code printing at the individual dose or item level,” continues Vansteenkiste. “This goes beyond what is currently required under global legislation; however, the addition of dose-level scannable 2D codes for medicines and medical devices, including variable data such as product name, expiry date, and batch code, can prove exceptionally valuable in helping to avoid errors in healthcare and pharmacy settings.”

Domino’s new solutions for the life sciences industry include the K300, a high-speed, high-resolution, piezo inkjet printer. The K300 is an ideal solution for high-speed variable data printing, including 2D code applications, on blister foils, flexible films, medical papers including Tyvek, and single-dose blow-fill-seal ampoules and vials.

In addition, Domino’s newly launched Dx-Series range of CO2 laser coder delivers fast, flexible coding onto a wide range of packaging substrates including paper, carton, glass, various types of films, and plastic blister packaging. The Dx-Series is suitable for item-level serialisation in compliance with international regulations, as well as printing more complex 2D codes, including QR codes powered by GS1.

The K300 and Dx-Series have been rigorously tested and approved for use in the life sciences sector, including compliance with 21 CFR part 11 for the US and Annex 11 in Europe. Both solutions can be installed as standalone units or alongside Domino’s automated coding and vision systems as part of a closed-loop printing and verification solution. In addition, Domino offers support and software and services for life sciences manufacturers to provide integration into production systems, as well as customised validation packs.

The new products sit within Domino’s extensive range of product to pallet solutions for the life sciences industry, which also includes:

K600G solution for coding on blister packaging

Gx-Series thermal Inkjet printers for flexible films and cardboard packs and boxes

U510 UV laser for plastic pharmaceutical bottles and films

Mx-Series print and apply labellers for shipper case aggregation labelling

“I am very pleased to announce the launch of our latest solutions for the life sciences industry,” says James Cutforth, Global Head of Regulated Sectors, Domino. “We understand that speed and reliability are critical for our life sciences customers, and are committed to developing compliant, future-proof solutions that will support changing code requirements, while not compromising on production line efficiency.”

Domino Printing Sciences (Domino), the trusted expert in advanced variable data printing solutions, is reinforcing its commitment to support global life sciences manufacturers with changing regulatory code requirements by launching two innovative new products.
