{"id":13785,"date":"2024-06-14T06:28:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-14T06:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cpmirror.com\/?p=13785"},"modified":"2024-06-14T06:28:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-14T06:28:00","slug":"sustainable-changes-made-to-jacobs-cream-crackers-packaging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cpmirror.com\/index.php\/2024\/06\/14\/sustainable-changes-made-to-jacobs-cream-crackers-packaging\/","title":{"rendered":"Sustainable changes made to Jacob\u2019s Cream Crackers packaging"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Working with DS Smith Packaging, Jacob\u2019s Cream Crackers reveals a new design that it claims has 78 percent less plastic per pack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making sustainable changes to its packaging, Jacob\u2019s Cream Crackers creators pladis UK&amp;I has been working with DS Smith to develop a new design that reportedly featured 78 percent less plastic per pack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to pladis UK&amp;I, the new packaging still incorporates \u201chigh quality print to the same standard as the previous solution\u201d and the update can already be seen on supermarket shelves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DS Smith is a global manufacturer of fibre-based sustainable packaging solutions and supported the global snacking company with its sustainability driven adaptations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Commission has shared that plastic packaging reached a total of 16.1 million tonnes in 2024, with other reports finding that, in the UK alone, 40 percent of all plastic waste comes from packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, pladis has revealed that it has witnessed plastic reduction \u201cincreasingly becoming front of mind for retailers and demanded by consumers\u201d, pladis UK&amp;I approached DS Smith about creating new packaging for the iconic Jacob\u2019s Crackers Selection pack, which minimised the amount of plastic waste in the shell of the packaging, while retaining the tamper proof seal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a testing period carried out by DS Smith designers, the finished product is said to have been able to save over 373,248g of CO2 so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow more than ever, consumers are concerned about the amount of plastic in their packaging,\u201d Paul Bridge at DS Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were delighted to work with pladis on new packaging for their iconic Jacob\u2019s Cream Crackers. The challenge with attempting to cut plastic out of packaging often means it can compromise the design.
