Amcor has highlighted both the sustainability and the ease to switch to its packaging after receiving the \u2018Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year\u2019 award at the UK Packaging Awards 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The packaging giant worked with Saputo Dairy UK to develop a new, recycle-ready grated cheese packaging for its cheese brand Cathedral City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Utilising Amcor\u2019s AmPrima recycle-ready packaging, the flowpack for grated cheese had ot address consumer demand for product freshness, convenience and improved sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Amcor\u2019s recent research, 70% of European hard cheese consumers ranked \u201cproper sealing\u201d as the most important packaging requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure convenience for shoppers, the new Cathedral City grated cheese packaging has an easy-close zip function to keep the product fresh and reduce food waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yi Jiang, marketing director Dairy at Amcor, said: \u201cThe collaboration between both companies addresses some of the biggest challenges facing cheese manufacturers \u2013 how to switch to more sustainable packaging that can run on high-speed production lines, while maintaining the same level of product protection and shelf life. Our AmPrima solution runs on Saputo Dairy UK\u2019s existing filling machines, enabling a seamlessly transition to a more sustainable alternative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new recycle-ready grated cheese flowpack provides a 47% reduction in carbon footprint compared to Cathedral City\u2019s previous packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
